Business Idea

Do you have plan to earn some money this holiday season? We all know that during this season, most people buy new clothes and  accessories, either for their own personal use or for gift giving and these are the best-sellers among all the items in the store whether in the malls or midnight stores. If you have little capital or small place to work on and have that artistic flair in you, you can try the accessory business like jewelry-making business. It doesn’t have to be the expensive type though, but those that are affordable with good quality. You can attend short training programs and seminars to keep you on the track, there they can recommend where to get jewelry making supplies for starters like you. As you go on, you can make it an all-year round venture and not just seasonal.

Sale Sale Sale

Sorry for not updating this week, I’m really very very busy. Almost everyday there’s a computer that needs some trouble-shooting or maintenance. I have ten computers to take care of, and there are times when they almost broke down at the same time and this is one those times. I was the one in charge of the reformatting and program installation while hubby is for the hardware maintenance, that is if there are parts that need cleaning or replacement.

Last Sunday we went to the  SM mall to unwind for just a while and also to get the hard disk that we returned for replacement,  good thing it was still under the two-year warranty period when it broke-down. We didn’t know they have a 3-day sale. We only went to Cyberzone – the third floor of the mall where all the computer and cell phone stores are and there we window-shopped and canvassed for the prices and compared them to the price lists we had for the last months prices (we make it a point to get one every month to monitor the price and the latest specs of computers). You can see the people lining up, this is on the cell phone booth.

PC Domain is our favorite computer parts store coz it has the lowest price in all the stores there and good service too, the only down-side is they don’t accept credit cards (not a problem we rarely use credit card :D ). We went back last Tuesday to avail of the last day sale. We got all we need from PC Domain and I went back to one store (PC Hub) to buy a PC casing that I asked for the price last Sunday, I got pissed off with the sales lady there, she was very rude as if she owns the place, her employer should sent her to a customer service training program. :(   I told her I will buy the PC casing that was on display and told me bluntly it was not for sale and will only sell them in bundle with other computer parts. I told her why didn’t tell me in the first place when I inquired about it and they even told me the price. It’s fine if not for sale, it’s just the attitude of this sales lady that irritated me, and the way she treated the customers, for sure I’m not the only one. Anyways, I got one from another store with lesser amount and good customer accommodation, that made up for my day.

Officially Closed for now

Yes, yesterday I officially closed my little retail store, if you are from the Philippines or been here, it’s known as sari-sari store. A little convenient store in the neighborhood where you can buy almost everything in small quantity from cooking items, to bath/laundry soap, snacks, sodas, even liquor (if they have permit to sell) and many more household items use in daily tasks.

It was in 1995 when I first opened it and since then it became part of our everyday life. The first few years  was very profitable where we can have a gross sale of as much as Php 2,000 to 5,000  a day, considering it was just a small store. But lately we cannot even reach half of it.  It was also affected by the failing economy and with all the big supermarkets and convenience stores sprouting like mushrooms near us, and the high business permit/tax charge I need to pay that increases 10% every year, and one more reason is that I’m not as active (because of my age maybe :) ) as before where I really went out of my way going to every nook and corner of wholesale stores where I can buy saleable items I can display in my store. So I decided to just closed it down, it’s not practical anymore to continue as it was not as profitable as before, and just taking too much of  our time when we also have to concentrate on other things, like me on my online job and hubby with his graphic design job. Besides, we still have our small internet shop to take care of, so it’s not really a lost. I will just miss it for a while coz it contributed lot in our earnings and a big help in our expenses.
